Autumn brings many colours to the Hunsdon House garden. The children gather leaves and cones from our trees and use them in their creative play. They love to mix and stir or sort nuts, conkers and acorns. We save these natural materials for decorating wreaths and making angels at our Christmas workshops.

We harvest our fruits and vegetables, make vegetable soup and press our own apple juice. Sometimes we open and share a big pumpkin! We like to hold a little Harvest feast to celebrate and give thanks for Nature's provision.

We celebrate the festival of St Martin on 11th November. The children make lanterns and act out the story of St Martin for the parents, after which we hold a lantern procession around the garden at dusk, singing songs of bringing our light into the darkness. Before going home to bed we all enjoy a cup of cocoa and a home made biscuit.
